As the apostle Paul moves into chapter 12 of his letter to the church in Rome, his focus shifts from an emphasis on doctrine to doxology, from theology to worship. In it he emphasizes the need for believers to live as "living sacrifices", that is that the primary element of their worship is their continual surrender to the Lord.
