Week 1 - A Return to the Word

Revival can be described as a movement of the Holy Spirit that causes a reawakening of spiritual fervor and love for God. It implies that one's spiritual life has gotten off track, grown cold, or apathetic. This was the state of the people of Israel prior to the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem. They were in need of not just physical rebuilding, but also spiritual revival. Today's message from Nehemiah shows us that when God is moving to revive his people we should be less focused on how He is reviving others and more focused on the need to be spiritually revived within ourselves. One indicator of such need for revival is seen in our apathy toward God's Word.
